Contains nearly 27,000 names of men aged 15-60 in Buckinghamshire in 1798. With known exclusions this is probably >90% complete in its coverage. Forenames, occupations and places can all be selected from drop down lists of all the variations found in the Posse Comitatus. Wild cards can be used in any text search. A* will find all names beginning with the letter A. J??n will find both John and Jean. Boolean logical operators can be used in compound searches, and the results ordered by name, occupation or place. Search results of the entire database are presented as full single records, with easy navigation tools, or as a grid of results showing just name, occupation and place. Up to 500 search results can be printed in grid layout. Search results can be plotted onto a 19th century parish map of Buckinghamshire to show the frequency of distribution of these results by parish. This is an ideal way to see surname and occupation clusters. The parish map has point and click identification of all parishes, or automatic placing of cross-hairs over the parish in the current record in the search results. A separate database table is included of the contact addresses of several current researchers who are interested in persons named in the Posse Comitatus. If such a person is in a result set, it is possible to call up the name and address of the modern researcher.
